They were given the “left foot of fellowship.” It should be noted that the Church of the Brethren (the Conservatives of 1882), has sought to repent of its action, and has engaged in some activities with the Brethren Church.

In 2008, both the Church of the Brethren and the Brethren Church will hold a conjoint Conference at Richmond, Virginia, in an effort to celebrate the beginning of the Schwarzenau Brethren movement.
