Pastor Thornley will be dearly missed. As Nathan Bryant shared in his recent tribute, Pastor Thornley was a mentor to many of us. But not only a mentor – a man who sacrificed key people in his ministry to start churches elsewhere. When it came time for Grace Community Church in Mississauga to start our first church and I had to release numerous key people, I don’t think I could have done it were it not for the example I received from Pastor Thornley who released Nathan to us in Canada.

Cindy, we are praying for you and the boys. We love you.

Dear Jeff, Suzie and I are so saddened at your sudden passing. We are praying that Cindy and your boys will get through this extremely difficult period with the strength of knowing that the loss is only short lived. Your separation will be supported in their hearts with the true and permanent joy of knowing you are in the arms of Jesus. That truth is comforting to us all. You have touched so many lives and done so much to make a huge impact on this world, and your place in heaven is assured. Please save some time for me when I arrive there, as I look forward to seeing you again. Thank you for all you did for me and my family. Your mark on me and mine, my sister and hers, and even my father, is deep. We will be thanking you long into the eternity to come.

We are sadden by the passing of Pastor Thornley. Life is too short, he made a positive impact on so many in his 31+ years by being the leader of Grace Brethren. We will remember him always. A beautiful person who will be missed dearly. He brought so many to Christ. We will miss him. Our prayers are with you Cindy and Family and the Grace Brethren Congregation.

Dear Cindy and Family,
I have thought many times lately of how much I appreciate the heritage of faith I received through faithful ministers at GBC, by our Father’s grace. Just a month or so ago, I used a CD of Pastor’s message on John 3:16 in Bible class where I teach. When my students prayed with me for you all, all the way around the world, they knew the voice of this faithful servant and his passion for the Good News. Thank you, Cindy for leading me to know HIM 30 years ago, and thank you, Father in heaven, for fruit that will last through eternity through the ministry of Your Spirit through Pastor Jeff.

Jeff was truly a blessings to many of our lives. As Gene said if he was the first personJeff led to the Lord, then I was the second. We had a special connection and I thank God for Jeff’s boldness in sharing his faith.

I was always impressed with his ability to understand and use the Word of God. I know that he will be missed by all that knew him and were influenced by him. When Nancy and I learned of Jeff’s taking up residence in Heaven, we were flooded with memories. Jeff had a great influence in our lives. We delighted in Pastor Dixon’s vision of starting churches around the beltway, with Jeff and Cindy becoming first responders, and through all the continued vision of training and teaching that took place in Waldorf. We had many happy times with your family in the formative days. What gave us joy was to see so many stepping out in the Lord’s service, also including us.
We pray that you…Cindy, John, Paul, Luke and Isabelle would know the sufficiency of His grace at this time
