I would encourage all Grace Brethren pastors to carefully examine the role of the communion service as a multi-sensory worship experience. We have generally neglected or abused the ideas of liturgy and ritual, and yet both can have profound impact as teaching tools and for spiritual impact. Dim the lights. Light some candles. Hush the chatter. Embrace the silence. Touch one another. Serve one another. Don't just think. Feel and feel deeply. And why is it that we who talk so much about communion do it so little?
