Don,

Thank you for sharing.your burden with us. It's the only way we can help shoulder it. I hope sharing it has helped you in some way.

It takes only one sinful person to start a war (like the one going on in Ukraine right now) and hundreds/thousands/millions of people are impacted in ways that will be with them for the rest of their lives. I don't understand the "why" and I am sure I never will unless God chooses to reveal that to me. For now, I exercise my privilege of intercessory prayer and try to accept that God is God, and I am not. I pray that you and all who have experienced the nightmare of war can find lasting peace.

Don, what a true Marine you are - Always Faithful - not only to your fellow Marines and to the mission, but in your response, by Faith, to the Lord Jesus and to weep for the Souls of your fellows! I salute YOU! I remembered feeling so bereft when in Afghanistan I put LCPL Ron Payne in a body-bag, and when I lost CPL David Fraise, my Chaplain Assistant, after he was torn apart by an IED. Yet, your words encourage my Soul and soothe the wounds of the loss of life. Thank you, brother in arms and brother in the Arms of Jesus! I pray your words remind us of Paul's example to all who must follow Christ in adversity when he said, "I served the Lord with great humility and with tears and in the midst of severe testing..." (Acts 20:19.) To all who are undergoing adversity, note that when Don said, "I would have taken their place if I could" the same Apostle Paul also concluded his Soldiery resolve when he affirmed that "my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace." (Acts 20:24.) Don, you truly represent that there is no greater love than to lay one's life down for another's Eternal Soul need! May we in the Charis Fellowship and Charis Alliance represent that sharing the Love of Christ's Good News to those in adversity of Soul must be our "only aim"! Prayerborne!
