Under the supervision of the Lead Pastor, the Student Ministry Director will lead our youth ministry (grades 6-12) and assist our Christian Education Director (Children’s ministry) to reach and disciple students and families to maturity in Christ.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead weekly gatherings for students that are engaging and Christ-exalting (gatherings that involve connection, worship, and teaching)
- Lead and train a team of youth volunteers
- Organize regular activities and special events for the youth group
- Develop connections between the youth group and the rest of the church body
- As schedule allows, support students by attending their extracurricular activities (sports games, concerts, plays, etc.)
- Assist CE Director in equipping parents to disciple their children
- Assist CE Director in planning our annual Vacation Bible School
- As schedule allows, assist the Lead Pastor in various pastoral responsibilities based on needs and giftedness (examples: preaching, visitation, funerals, etc.)
- Be an active participant in weekly staff meetings
- Complete monthly ministry reports and meet monthly with the Lead Pastor
Qualifications:
- Genuine and abiding faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and commitment to His Church
- Character that reflects the qualities expressed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7
- Desire to help students grow as followers of Jesus
- Reliability in planning and preparation
- Ability to faithfully and applicably teach the Scriptures
- Agree with Southview GBC’s statement of faith
- Prior experience working with students in a local church
Hours: This is currently a part-time position (approx. 20hr/week). We will assist you in finding supplemental employment if needed.
