Youth Conference Set for July 22-27 at Biola U.

May 1, 2006

Image“Rescue” is the theme for this year’s Brethren National Youth Conference, to be held on the campus of Biola University in LaMirada, California, the week of Saturday, July 22 through Thursday, July 27, 2006.

More than 2,500 teenagers traditionally participate in this action-packed week which includes marquee speakers, small-group and workshop opportunities, recreational options and much more.

This year’s headline speakers include Francis Chan, Shawn McBride, Jeremy Kinsley, Mike Lee, Scott Distler, Randy Smith, Lee Strobel, and Jeff Bogue.

Dave Rank, senior coordinator for the conference, said this year’s theme is based on Colossians 1:12-14 – “God rescued us from the dark power of Satan and brought us into the kingdom of his dear Son, who forgives our sins and sets us free.” He indicated that this year’s conference will challenge students to understand their need for a Savior, and would focus on empowering students to learn how a person “rescued from the riptides of this world that are pulling them under” should live and point others to the Rescuer.

FGBC national ministries will again be heavily involved at BNYC with exhibits and by sponsoring various events and scholarships. A rich array of about 45 “Power Trax” workshops will be conducted, with topics ranging from “Worldviews: Creation vs Evolution” to “Pornography,” “Gender Issues,” Eating Disorders,” Spiritual Warfare” and more.

Registration and information about the conference is available at www.bnyc.net. BNYC is a function of CE National, headed by executive director Ed Lewis. Assisting Dave Rank in the BNYC management team are Kirsten Gulick, assistant coordinator; Bruce Barlow, Personnel and Procedures; and Matt Mason, Marketing and Finance.
