Dec 30, 2014

Ken Lawson, a police officer in Columbus, Ohio, and a member of Grace Polaris Church, a Grace Brethren congregation on the north side of Columbus (Mike Yoder, pastor), was featured recently on ABC-6 (WSYX-TV) after he and his wife stepped in to help a needy family. The effort snowballed with the help of his church, a local radio station, and others, when he realized other families needed assistance. A portion of the story appears below. Police Officer Brightens Christmas for Dozens of Kids

Nearly 60 kids at a Northwest Columbus apartment complex are enjoying Christmas toys that were donated from “The River” radio station and The Reynoldsburg dentist office.

It all started from one act of kindness. Columbus police Officer Kenneth Lawson found out about a family who was in need at the Oakland Park apartment complex. After he helped them, he found out about other families in the complex who were in need.

With help from his church he donated 100 bags of food to families at the complex. He also entered a Christmas contest at the river radio station and won. The contest was for people who needed help during the holidays.
