Crossroads Community Church, a Grace Brethren congregation in Philadelphia, Pa. (Jim Brown, senior pastor), participated in the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service in the Holmesburg neighborhood of Philadelphia. They partnered with Mount Zion Baptist Church to pray for the neighborhood, and to solicit canned goods and dry goods for the neighborhood food pantry which is housed in the United Methodist Church.Kurt Miller, director of strategic partnerships for MetroGrace, a Grace Brethren church planting organization in Philadelphia, said that everyone was overwhelmed with the generosity of people. They opened up their cupboards and hearts to those in the neighborhood who are less fortunate than them. One woman said, “I really need this food for my family, but I want to give it anyway!”
Please continue to pray for MetroGrace as they plant churches in various neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia; and, pray that the Lord will lead them to other strategic partnerships like this where they can serve together with the broader Body of Christ to share the Gospel in word and deed.
