Dr. Jared Burkholder, chair of the history department at Grace College, will be the presenter for Sunday Night Praise this Sunday, May 24, at 6 p.m. at the Winona Lake, Ind., Grace Brethren Church (WLGBC). His topic will be “Pacifists During the American Revolution” and it will include material which C-Span television recently taped of Burkholder discussing the delicate tension that arose when the early American Brethren, who believed scripture taught them to be pacifists and not to rebel against authority, faced the growing momentum to fight for independence against Great Britain. A book entitled “Becoming Grace: Seventy-Five Years on the Landscape of Christian Higher Education in America,” edited by Burkholder and Mark Norris, was just released this week by BMH Books of Winona Lake.
