Today on the Facebook page for the Southern California-Arizona District of Grace Brethren Churches (Southwest Brethren), Roy Halberg, pastor at Grace Fellowship of Alta Loma, Calif., shared this story of God’s protection.
GOD IS GOOD!!
Our church in Alta Loma has a boy scout troop that meets in our facilities during the week. They are present in the building most Monday evenings.
Thankfully, they were there yesterday.
When they entered the building, they found a slight haze in the air, smelled smoke, weren’t sure what it was, and opened doors to clear the air… one scout leader told me the smell reminded him of incense.
Fortunately, one of the men is a fire captain and he knew right away that there was a fire so they called the fire department. Three or four fire trucks rolled and the firemen found a fire in the exhaust fan in the women’s rest room. They were able to extinguish the fire before any serious damage was done.
We will need to hire an electrician to replace the exhaust fan and a general contractor to repair the damage done to the ceiling by the fire and the firemen.
The fireman I spoke with, Rich, told me that if the scouts had not been there to find the smoke before the fire really got going, we very likely could have lost the building.
God is good
-He had the scouts in the building on the right day at the right time
-He had a fire captain present who responded quickly
-He brought the Rancho Cucamonga fire department in time to catch the fire while still small
-He prevented a small issue from becoming a big problem
Please join me in thanking God for His goodness . . . and pray that we can get repairs done by the weekend
