Randy Weekley, pastor of the Grace Brethren Church in Pinellas Park, Fla. He underwent surgery underwent surgery on August 3 to have his left leg removed after suffering from villonodular synovitis. Here is an update, posted on August 22 on his Facebook page and shared here with his permission. He is a patient at a VA hospital in Florida.
My dearest praying friends, how can I possibly express my gratitude for your prayers on my behalf? Except to say thank you, thank you,thank you. Our God was glorified through you all, which is the end of all that we would want.
It has been 19 days since the surgery, in the beginning the pain was indeed intense, but now it is still painful but bearable and the medications are helping.
God has answered your prayers in many ways but perhaps the most important way is that He guarded my heart and my mind as He promised in Philippians. 4:6-7. His peace was so obvious as we; my wife and three daughters set calm and collected laughing at my weird since of humor, wating for the nurses to come and get me ready for the surgery. Even after the surgery God’s presence was so obvious, as His peace filled our hearts and the room. To the point the nurses commented on what a great family we had!
I have had the priviledge of meeting many brave vets who are amputees, I was able to share at a support group that my relationship with the God of the universe helps me daily to get through. I am asking God to open a door of ministry into their lives.
Please, if you do not mind, would you continue to pray for me as the Lord prompts you? I have a long journey ahead; could be as much as 5-6 months out before I get my prosthetic leg. Until then I am wheel-chair bound. So I continue to covet your prayers on my behalf and especially for my wonderful wife who is at my side daily through this thing and working hard at the house in preparation for my coming home. Which, Lord willing, will be next Friday.
So thank you again for the life-changing prayers that have gone to the Lord on my behalf. I will never forget the pouring out of love and support on Facebook.
