Nick Cleveland, recently named senior pastor at Grace Church, a Grace Brethren congregation in Wooster, Ohio, posted news on Facebook last night following the devastating fire at their home. It is shared here with his permission.
Today we had a house fire, #hisloveenduresforever
As many of you know today we had a house fire. Praise God everyone is ok and no one was hurt! We did lose a lot of “stuff” but that’s not what matters. Even in the midst of a terrible day we have reason to be thankful! We are so humbled and thankful to so many who have reached out to us. Forgive us if we cannot reply to all of you right now. We read your texts and love you all.
We are thankful to those who watched our children and helped them process today. You blessed us big time.
We are thankful to the Wooster Fire Department for their courageous and compassionate work – these are true American heroes!
We are thankful to our neighbors who ALL responded with such support! We live in a great neighborhood!
We are thankful to the Wooster community who has reached out to us and blessed us with housing and prayers.
We are thankful to our family who upon hearing immediately jumped in the car and drove 2 hours to be here and help!
We are thankful to Grace Church who has literally put the clothes on our backs, food in our stomachs, and arms of support around us! Your love and prayers are felt in a very real way. In case you missed it we had church today at our house! #ilovemychurch
We are thankful to our Lord Jesus who has given us more than we deserve and blessed us even in the midst of difficulty.
There were many tears today. Some for loss…most for blessings. Blessings in the forms of people, generosity, and sacrifice. Thank you! In the days ahead we will no doubt have plenty of needs. But the biggest one we will be facing next is a temporary housing during the restoration process. If you have a lead on one we would appreciate you calling the Grace Church office at 330-264-9459.
