Jeff Bogue, the conference pastor for Momentum, finished the last day by speaking to the students about being prepared. Bogue is the senior pastor of Grace Church of Greater Akron, Ohio.
Always. That is the word Bogue focused on from 1 Peter 3:15, the theme verse for Momentum 2019. God does not say anything just to say it, he said.
Like getting ready for a sport, a play, or marching band, a Christian must be prepared. The practice is important because otherwise when the pressure comes, people will return to their old ways.
“When you revere Christ in your heart…then from a place of reverence be prepared to give an answer,” Bogue said. “Be able to say ‘I am ready.’”
Bogue gave students examples from the Bible to inspire them. Joseph determined to flee from evil before Potiphar’s wife approached him. David decided ahead of time that he would fight the giant. Esther walked into the King’s room fully prepared to sacrifice her life. Mary said “I am the Lord’s servant” when the angel spoke to her. They had their ‘yes’ ready because their lives were already God’s.
Bogue invited the Momentum attendees to ask God, “Will you help me with my ‘always’?”
