Position Summary:
The Communications Director serves as the point leader the ongoing development, alignment, and consistency of vision-centered communication across all ministries at GTWY. They will pour into leaders first – equipping the saints to do the work of the ministry. They will love first, lead second, but always do both realizing that leadership is temporary, and a stewardship to God. They will model integrity, live out Biblical truth, and demonstrate the mission of GTWY Church to help people encounter Jesus, experience community, and embrace mission.
Areas of Responsibility (subject to change):
-Embody the mission of Gateway Church at all times.
-Embody and reinforce the staff values of One Voice, Clear is Kind, Relationship & Results, Curiosity Over Criticism, and Radical Responsibility.
-Co-create an environment based on trust and accountability, balancing grace and truth.
-Communicate frequently and proactively with the COEO, Lead Pastor, and GTWY Team.
-Build and maintain a communications calendar for events, sermon series, discipleship, and church wide initiatives. Share the sequence with team for awareness of scope and structure to the whole.
-Serve an essential team strategist to not only maintain effectiveness but also drive innovation and creativity.
-Lead and coordinate with staff and ministry leads to determine the WHY, WHAT, WHO, WHEN and HOW of implementation of a communication strategy in alignment with overall vision and initiative-specific needs/goals.
-Develop copy, determine formatting, and establish deadlines for all deliverables (i.e. stand alone emails, regular assets, one-time assets, social media strategy and content, etc).
-Course correct with gentleness and clarity as needed any area of ministry that falls outside of the brand and mission-aligned standards.
-Whenever possible, provide guidelines and formatting to others aka “box to play in” so there can be delegation and ownership at lowest level of competency, equipping the saints for the work of the ministry.
-Collaborate weekly with the Creative Director and work in tandem to establish and maintain cohesive content creation and output.
-Ensure presence on social media platforms is aligned with overall strategy and is a consistent avenue for engagement.
-Run point for the weekend gathering across campus to ensure all teams are functioning in a cohesive manner.
-Maintain weekly and continually develop the GTWY website and app as accurate reflections of vision, mission, values, current ministries, and overall “feel.”
-Consult with ministry leads every 4-6 months to ensure website and app content is accurate.
-Recruit, equip, and shepherd ServeTeam leaders as appropriate to assist in various communications related areas so that they can have ownership and creatively use their gifts for the Kingdom.
-Build into personal knowledge base and skill development on a regular basis, providing relevant education to the team as appropriate and helpful to their overall effectiveness.
-Lean into individual gifting and the greater needs of the Body with an openness to taken on other responsibilities as determined by the Lead Pastor or COEO.
