More than 100 girls and their mothers attended a holiday “Mother-Daughter SMM Tea” at Winona Lake (IN) Grace Brethren Church (Bruce Barlow, lead pastor) this afternoon. The year’s theme for SMM is “A Girl After God’s Own Heart” and the program at the tea focused on service–each of the girls had made an apron for her mother as part of the SMM craft time.
The program, for girls in grades 1-6 at Jefferson Elementary School, which is across the street from the Winona Lake church, meets Thursday afternoons after school for games, crafts, refreshments, singing, Bible lessons, missions lessons, and more.
The other special event of the SMM year is a “Father-Daughter Picnic in the Park” held each spring, at the end of the school year. Approximately 25 women from WLGBC and Grace College students assist with the program, which is directed this year by Sharon White.
