A small West Kittanning school helped out in a big way this holiday season to many families in need.

Students from the Grace Christian School collected more than 100 bags of food through ‘VANquish Hunger’ to donate to the Armstrong County Community Action Agency.

Food was collected from local residents, businesses and Grace Brethren Church members and filled a 15-passenger van outside the school.

Leigh Harvey is a parent of three students at the school and volunteered to help with the effort.

“I was happy to do it. After we got into it, it became more fun and you could see the enjoyment on the kids’ faces and the teachers,” Harvey said. “The kids worked really hard.”
