At the Table

Feb 6, 2023

“God is worthy of our praise regardless of our circumstances.”

Sue Fenker, director of children’s ministries at Community of Hope Grace Brethren Church in Columbia City, Ind., opened up the Charis Women’s At the Table conference with this reminder of God’s goodness. And in His goodness, He has set a place for everyone at His table.

Executive Director Jenn Avey Speaking at the Conference

The conference welcomed 180 women for two days of teaching, worship, and refreshment. Women were invited to accept the Lord’s invitation to His table and to extend that invitation to others. A variety of speakers, including Charis Women Executive Director Jenn Avey, and an all-women worship band facilitated moments of connection with God and others.

At the Table was held at Grace Community Church in Goshen, Ind., in early November. ReMARKable Women, the women’s ministry at Grace Community led by Natalie Replogle, helped host by providing refreshments, answering questions, and leading group games.

“I’m so incredibly proud of my team and their hearts to serve and love the women that attended,” Natalie said. “I loved watching us grow stronger as we worked together, each with our individual talents, to help create an environment for ladies to come to the table to learn, refresh, and walk away with a revived purpose. We are excited to see how God continues to use this conference in the lives of the ladies in our fellowship, for we are truly better together!”

Group from Bellefontaine Grace Church

“My favorite part of the conference was communion; time set apart to remember, respond, and rejoice brought me closer to my God and my sisters,” said Jael Bunce, who attended the conference with 13 others from Bellefontaine Grace Church. “Not only was At the Table an incredibly impactful theme, but it was seamlessly woven into everything from the games to the cohorts to the notes in our lunch boxes!”

Group from Grace Polaris Church

Jenny Troutner, who attended with a group from Grace Polaris Church, said, “It was a blessing for us to get away from the busyness of our home lives to focus on the Lord. From the sharing that happened on the drive there and in the hotel, to the time of worship and teaching, it was a time of refreshment and focus on spiritual things.”

This was the first regional conference for Charis Women. The next At the Table women’s conference is planned for March 17–18 at Gateway Church in Parkesburg, Pa. Get more information and register here.
