There are all kinds of people living in the Caribbean just like in America. From the Bahamas to Trinidad our ministry involves all kinds of people. Though they may be very different in language, culture, religion, and standards of living, basic needs remain the same. All people need shelter, food, clean water, clothing, medical care, God’s love and the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
In Haiti almost all people struggle to have basic needs met. Caribbean Vision Ministries focuses on some of the neediest people in Haiti and strives to meet their needs spiritually and physically. One such ministry is House of Hope Orphanage. The Orphanage is home to 35 orphans and a wonderful adult Christian staff. The parents of these children have died or have abandoned them or relatives have placed them in the orphanage because they cannot take care of them. Some have been found living on the street with no one to care for them and they have been brought to House of Hope. As we end this year we still have a need of funds for improving the filtration of the orphanage water supply so it is cleaner water. And we need funds for assisting us in increasing the food supply for the children.
Another ministry involving children is our ministry to five hundred children in five church schools. These church schools minister to families that can’t afford to send their children to school without the sacrificial effort of the teachers and the donated supplies that we provide for the children. Many if not most of these children come to school hungry because of a lack of food in the family. One of our goals is to eventually be able to give each child a meal when they attend school.
Outside the walls of Grace Theological Institute, where we train Pastors who can’t afford to pay for an education, countless children live in families who do not have the basics of life. Our ministry is involved in reaching them for Christ and also attempting to supply them with some of life’s basic necessities in addition to helping with educational aid and health care.
