Centerville to Host Jacksons, Hymnsing

May 3, 2008

The Centerville, Ohio, Grace Brethren Church (Steve Makofka, pastor) will host an old-fashioned hymnsing on Sunday, May 4 at 6 p.m. The church building is located at 410 E. Social Row Road.

This special community-wide event will feature Bruce and Brenda Jackson, performing everyone’s favorite hymns utilizing their rich vocal harmonies and instrumental music on piano and cello. Their children, who range in age from twenty-four down to twelve will also be present for the evening.

The family has toured extensively in this country as well as Asia, where their performances in China and the Philippines drew capacity crowds. They have appeared with Dr. Charles Stanley, Pastor Chuck Swindoll, Rev. Billy Graham, Dr. James Dobson, of Focus On The Family, as well as a host of others and their music is featured on the parenting series called, “Growing Kids God’s Way.”

The Jacksons have strong musical roots, drawing from generations of talented instrumentalists and vocalists. Music was part of their homes, as well as a tool for use in the church.

Bruce was raised in a Pastor’s home in Dayton, Ohio where he studied classical piano in the Proctor School of Music and learned to play and sing gospel music in his father’s church. Brenda was one of five children, all of whom played stringed instruments and sang. In the early years, her father was a featured vocalist on CBS television.

Bruce and Brenda have been mixing family and music all of their lives and are now celebrating their 20th year in full time musical ministry.
