Charis Disaster Response is a new initiative to help Charis Fellowship churches minister to people and areas affected by natural disasters in the United States.
The development of Charis Disaster Response comes out of several years of discussion with leadership from Encompass World Partners and Charis Fellowship to determine the best way to facilitate these important opportunities to serve and do good for the sake of the Gospel. For many decades, Encompass’ response branch, known as Encompass Crisis Response, has led the Charis Fellowship in our efforts to respond and minister to those in crisis both domestically and globally. Encompass Crisis Response, under the direction of Barb Wooler and others from Encompass, will specifically direct their focus to serving internationally in areas affected by crises such as natural disasters and civil conflict.
Charis Disaster Response, led by Todd Derry and operating in conjunction with the Fellowship Council, will focus on ministering to those in the United States who are impacted by natural disasters. In order to facilitate hands-on assistance in affected areas, Charis Disaster Response will relay information, share stories, and provide opportunities for Charis churches to pray, give, and send teams. Strategic partnerships with other disaster relief organizations for the purpose of training and collaboration are currently being pursued.
More information will be provided soon on specific projects, training opportunities, and how Charis churches can get involved. For more information, contact Todd Derry at DisasterResponse@CharisFellowship.com.
