Day of Generosity Explained

Nov 21, 2016

The folks at Encompass World Partners have had some questions lately about what’s happened to Day of Generosity. They’ve sent the story below to provide an update.

A Note Regarding the Day of Generosity

You know that moment when you arrive home from a trip to the grocery store ready to cook a fabulous meal only to realize that you forgot a main ingredient on your shopping list. It’s one of those moments when all the excitement for the planning and preparations is seemingly lost on that one thing you forgot.

Here at Encompass we’ve been preparing for the release of a new 31 –day prayer guide and the development of a campaign called the Global Prayer Journey, which will orient your church to the many countries where our movement is operating. In our excitement to develop a new prayer resource and subsequent campaign that links it together with a call to respond through the annual Day of Generosity offering in February of 2017, we forgot to share how that would impact what has become an annual tradition for many churches who have been participating in the offering on the first Sunday of November.

In October we sent a letter to churches introducing the Global Prayer Journey and encouraging participation in the Day of Generosity at the end of that journey through a concrete call to action and tangible expression of financial support for our partner churches around the world. (Link to Letter) In November each church is receiving a folder of promotional tools including a prayer guide, pastor’s campaign guide, bulletin cover images, posters, bookmarks, and Day of Generosity response cards, plus access to videos, graphics, and social media.

In our efforts to prepare all of these materials and send them to our church partners we didn’t adequately communicate how that would impact those who have faithfully planned to participate in the Day of Generosity. It’s been an encouragement to us to hear from many churches that planned to participate and took the offering this month. Any church or individual can give to the Day of Generosity and its designated purpose to support our National Ministry Partners any time during the calendar year.

Going forward it’s our intention to combine the Global Prayer Journey with the Day of Generosity as a way to pray and give through a single campaign. While we are recommending that churches participate in February of 2017, it is a flexible schedule that allows churches to place it any time during the year with materials that are not dated.

Thanks for your grace towards us as we seek to provide tools that will help your church focus, refine, and multiply your efforts for greater fruitfulness in the Great Commission. Please let us know if you have any questions by e-mailing us at info@encompassworld.org.
