May 2, 2014

Dounia MarcWord has been received of the death of Dounia Marc in the Central African Republic.

He was the director of the literature work among Grace Brethren churches in the C.A.R. “When our literacy method went national, he was in charge of that as well.,” reports Barb Wooler. “The national literacy campaign lasted about three years. Dounia loved the Lord and loved people. Had an easy laugh and was always a pleasure to be around. Great father and he and Rebecca had an amazing marriage.”

Three years ago he had a massive stroke and has struggled since, according to Wooler. “It was about a month ago that his area of the Bangui got really bad for three days,” she said. “No doubt his blood pressure shot up and he had another stroke. Since then he has been unable to eat or drink. The family took him to the hospital the day I arrived (Tuesday) and was gone within an hour. All who know and love him are glad he is free. That first stroke left him totally paralyzed on one side and hard to understand.”
