Erin Bakker Experiences Stroke

Mar 7, 2015

Word has been received of that Erin Bakker, wife of Jordan Bakker, pastor of Grace Brethren Church, Simi Valley, Calif., suffered a stroke on Friday evening. The prognosis for her recovery is good and she is recuperating in a Simi Valley hospital. Below are more details, which were released on the Simi Valley church’s Facebook page. Please pray for Erin, Jordan, and their family.

Church Family,

Thank you all for your continued prayers and support for the Bakker family!

If you’re not aware, at about 6:50 last night, Erin had a significant stroke and was taken to the Simi Valley hospital. The Lord was gracious and we are thankful for quick identification of the problem, rapid emergency medical response, a neurologist on site at the hospital and lots of prayer support!

We were amazed at the significant strides Erin made last night as she finally responded to the medication. By midnight, the EMTs and hospital staff were amazed by how she was recovering. She was admitted with a stroke score of 16 (severe) and by 11pm or so was down to a 1 – simply incredible!! God is good!!

Erin has been transferred to the ICU and will remain there until they feel comfortable releasing her this next week. We will arrange help for the Bakker family (meals, childcare, etc.) as they are in need of more specific care. We will post more information in the next couple days regarding how you can help (for those of you who would like to). At the moment, they are well taken care of and appreciate the love and support they’ve received from the church family!

We’ll continue to offer updates here as more information is available.

Jordan and Erin have asked to not have visitors right now and to not have people try and contact them directly. We would greatly appreciate your help in this area!

God is good!!
