FGBC Response to Hurricane Harvey Continues

Aug 31, 2017

Efforts among Grace Brethren churches to respond to needs in the wake of Hurricane Harvey moved forward today during a conference call led by Barb Wooler, director of crisis response for Encompass World Partners.

“The clean-up will be mammoth,” she told those on the call. “It will begin as soon as the water recedes.” She also noted that teams will be needed by mid-September. “We don’t want to go tomorrow, ” she stressed. “If we go now, we will be part of the problem.”

The efforts coordinated by Wooler will work in partnership with local churches in the Houston, Tex., area. Contacts have already been made, including one with a Hispanic congregation.

Several Grace Brethren congregations are already planning to send teams.

Wooler will also be traveling to the Houston area next week to assess the situation.
