Final Basketball Game in Lancer Gym Approaches

GRACE/BETHEL GAME TO MARK CLOSING OF LANCER GYM

With the opening of the Orthopaedic Capital Center this spring, Grace College Lancer basketball will have a new home next year. That means this is the last season that Grace will play in Lancer Gymnasium, which opened its doors in 1958.

At the last regular season men’s basketball game in the gym, Tuesday, February 13 at 7 p.m. between Grace and arch-rival Bethel College, halftime ceremonies will be dedicated to marking the close of this historic venue and to celebrate its significance in support of the school’s mission.

Alumni are invited to a pre-game reception at 6 p.m. at the Science Center lobby.

When completed, the Orthopaedic Capital Center will be the new home of the Lancer basketball and volleyball teams. Here are a few details:

– 2,700-seat theatre and chapel

– 2,500-seat venue for concerts and special events

– 2,100-seat arena for intercollegiate activities

– 2,500-seat seminar facility with breakout rooms

– 15,000-square-foot convention and exhibition center

– Floor named Kessler Court after head men’s basketball coach Jim Kessler
