Five students from Grace College completed their education by serving their entire senior year at Urban Hope Philadelphia. James Holt was dean of the program. Jason Holt, and many adjunct faculty members, helped teach the students.
During the year the students traveled to cities such as Boston, Atlanta, New York, Washington D.C., Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, and of course, Philadelphia. The students experienced education challenges, discussions, and mentoring which equipped them to work in urban ministries in their future. Thanks to Grace College, Winona Lake, Indiana, for allowing these students to complete their education by spending nine months in Philadelphia.
Tommy Gifford, a new graduate of the SUM program, has begun the process of joining the staff of Urban Hope Training Center Philadelphia.
There will be improvements to the SUM program coming this fall. Grace College is allowing the length of time spent in Philadelphia to be reduced. This will help students receive an education at a much quicker pace.
