The Grace Brethren Church of Columbus (Worthington), Ohio, will welcome accomplished international violinist Gert Kumi as part of this year’s Living Christmas Trees performances. Gert’s beautiful Christmas CD, arranged by Grace’s own Robert Nugent, is available at Grace Bookstore/Café during all Living Christmas Trees performances. The concerts continue at the Columbus church through Sunday, December 19.
Kumi started playing the violin at the age of eight in his native country of Albania. He emigrated to the United States and was accepted at the Juilliard School in New York City as a scholarship student of Stephen Clapp. He graduated from Juilliard with his Master’s Degree in 2003, and has performed across the United States, Europe, South Korea, and Africa.
Gert has performed at the most prominent venues in New York City including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Radio City Music Hall, St. George Theater, New York Public Library, and Town Hall.
Mr. Kumi has been featured as soloist with orchestras in the United States including the Staten Island Philharmonic, Bachanalia Chamber Orchestra, Masterworks Festival Orchestra, and Symphony of the Lakes. He also performed as part of the Elton John American Tour in 2004.
