Here’s one thing that even a pandemic can’t take away from Josh Swales:

A winner’s work ethic.

“These are times when you really find out who’s wants it most,” said the Grace Brethren senior. “Am I going to go for it every day and keep doing the work? Or am I going to take the day off? For me, I’m going to continue to out out the effort and chase my goals.”

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound right-handed pitcher never truly got a chance to showcase his skills for the Lancers baseball team.

A balky hip that required care and treatment limited him to seven innings as a junior. This spring, Swales had thrown 15 innings in three appearances, chalking up 15 strikeouts and a 1.87 earned-run average. He had yielded 13 hits and four earned runs.

With the season ended prematurely, Swales is working every day to fulfill his sterling potential.
