Grace Christian School, Blacklick, Ohio, Students Raise Funds for Water Pumps

Dec 20, 2018

Staff and students at Grace Christian School, Blacklick, Ohio, are rejoicing in their Christmas offering, which raised more than $20,000 toward the installation of three LifePumps, which are produced by Design Outreach, a cooperating ministry in the Charis Fellowship, and will provide life-extending water for communities in Haiti and Africa. Grace Christian School is a ministry of East Side Grace Brethren Church on the east edge of Columbus, Ohio (Beau Stanley, senior pastor). East Side Grace Brethren Church will also help with the installation one of the three pumps.

Here’s the post from Design Outreach’s Facebook page:

We have been so inspired by the students of Grace Christian School (Blacklick, Ohio), who felt compassion for those around the world living without access to safe water and decided to do something about it. We love this post they shared recently that shows the sacrifices these students have made to reach their goal of $10,000 to fund a LifePump for a community in Haiti.

But here’s the kicker: They didn’t just raise $10,000. They raised $21, 721. Yes, I said that right: $21, 721. In just one month!

Because of their efforts, a community in Haiti AND a community in Kenya will gain access to safe water through LifePump. The excess funds will be used to support another campaign that will provide an additional pump! That’s THREE LifePumps!💧🌍❤️

We are blown away by these kids’ passion, generosity, creativity, determination, and desire to show the love of God to people in need.

Our team had the privilege of sitting down with a group of 8th graders when they launched their campaign. Together, the students wrote down why they decided to do this campaign:

“We, the students of Grace Christian School, desire to help people from a faraway place get clean water, which will enable them to have joy and happiness. We feel very blessed, so we want to give back. We want to give people a chance to live a better life. The Bible teaches us to go out and make disciples. A way of doing this is by showing God’s love in practical ways. The Bible teaches us that we are all a family, and families help each other. We are doing this to get closer to Christ by teaching others that we can love like He did while he was on earth and through the Cross.”

Thank you Grace Christian School for being a light in a dark world and for loving others as Christ has loved us!
