Grace to Host Regional Theological Meeting

Mar 6, 2007

The 52nd meeting of the Midwestern Region of the Evangelical Theological Society will be hosted by Grace Theological Seminary, Winona Lake, Indiana, on March 16-17. The theme of the meeting is “Jesus the Messiah: Promises, Expectation, and Coming of Israel’s King.”

Three Grace faculty members, Dr. Matt Harmon, Dr. Tiberius Rata, and Dr. Brent Sandy, will be presenting papers at the meeting. BMH Books, a major supplier of texts to Bible colleges, Bible institutes and seminaries, will be exhibiting, with all BMH products available to ETS attenders at 50 percent off retail price.

The ETS meeting will take place at Warsaw Community Church, 2300 Ranch Rd., Warsaw, Indiana. For more information, visit http://www.etsjets.org/.

In conjunction with the ETS meeting, Grace has arranged for a Religious Studies Symposium on Friday, March 16 at 7:30 p.m. in McClain Auditorium on the Grace campus.

Dr. Darrell Bock (pictured) from Dallas Theological Seminary will speak for 30 minutes on the topic, Jesus in the Public Square: Why the Religious Hall of Fame is not Good Enough.

He will examine five declarations commonly made in the public square about Jesus, which turn out to be false, and he will suggest ways to begin work back to orthodoxy, based on how orthodoxy functioned before there was a working New Testament.

Following Dr. Bock’s lecture, there will be a panel discussion with Matt Harmon (Grace Seminary), Linda Belleville (Bethel College), Dave Turner (Grand Rapids Baptist), and Greg Sterling (Notre Dame). The symposium is free and open to the public.
