“Working together to do what we could not on our own”
GRAFTON—One local church’s food bank has grown leaps and bounds over the years, and is able to serve more families than ever before.
According to Brenda Rosier, the Food Pantry Outreach Ministry service, at the First Baptist Church, in Grafton, is a community effort, and that the building is merely a drop off spot.
“We are the only church food pantry that is still open five days a week, Monday through Friday,” shared Rosier. “We work with five other churches, and wouldn’t be able to do what we do without them and the volunteer support.”
Rosier said that Linn Chapel Church, Harmony Grove Baptist Church, Beulah Baptist Church, First Grace Brethren Church and Union Baptist Church lend support with either food or financial assistance.
“We also have the help of 16 volunteers who come from those churches, as well,” noted Rosier.
What once started as a small food cart in 2000, where individuals would donate peanut butter and macaroni and cheese, has grown into a 50×30 addition to the back of the building, that was completed approximately six years ago.
