Haiti Update

Jan 13, 2010

The following update was received early Wednesday afternoon from Dr. Chuck Davis and from Pastor Elysee Joseph in Haiti. Relief Agency Brethren is sending immediate aid, and those wishing to contribute to the RAB relief fund may do so through the Grace Brethren International Missions website by clicking here.

I know you have heard by now of the disaster in Haiti. Our GO2Haiti Team returned from ministry in Cap Haitian on Sunday. Pastor Elysee Joseph remained in Cap Haitien and was to fly to Port Au Prince on Tuesday and spend the night and fly home on Thursday. His flight was canceled from Cap Haitien so he missed the quake in Port Au Prince. I received this email from Pastor Elysee at 10:25am CST this morning.

“Hi Chuck! I am trapped here in Cap Haitien. All flights are canceled. There is no ground transportation and no communication by phone. All networks are down. I am OK. Thanks to the vigilence of our leadership our Institute Director Pastor Joses was spared a disaster. We were able to move his family to the Institute before a big part of the house went down. I am using money in our ministry fund to take care of those kind of emergencies. I will keep you posted.”

Your prayers will be appreciated for our friends in Haiti and Pastor Elysee as he evaluates things and lets us know how we may help. Any financial gifts to help with the disaster can be sent to Caribbean Vision Ministries, PO Box 18317, Panama City Beach, FL 32417 and marked “Haiti Disaster Relief.” Thanks for your prayers and assistance.
