Jim Long to Edit Outreach Magazine

After more than ten years as Creative Coordinator/Senior Editor in the marketing communications department of WorldVenture (formerly CBI International), Grace alumnus and former CE National employee James P. Long (pictured) has accepted a new position.

Long has accepted the position of Managing Editor of Outreach Magazine in Vista, California, just east of Oceanside. He will also be helping them launch a book line to be co- published by Zondervan.

Long says, “[This is] A great opportunity that has come up quickly and unexpectedly and gives me the chance to get more involved with publishing again, as well as reconnecting with old friends.”

James P. Long has won numerous Evangelical Press Association awards for his writing. He is the author of hundreds of magazine articles and a contributor to 10 books, as well as writing nine others, including Why Is God Silent When We Need Him the Most? It’s Who You Are That Counts and When Things Get Tough. His books have been translated into French, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean and German, as well as English editions being circulated in Singapore and the British Isles.

Jim is the former editor and director of editorial development of Campus Life magazine (now known as Ignite Your Faith), where he was part of the creative team for 16 years. He has also served as a contributing editor to CCM (Contemporary Christian Music) and Marriage Partnership magazines, and has been published in Christianity Today, Discipleship Journal, Decision, Moody and the Chicago Tribune.

In addition to to being an author, songwriter and speaker, Jim has given creative direction to video, website and media projects, and for the past 10 years has served as creative coordinator and senior editor for WorldVenture, a missionary enterprise with innovative ministries in more than 60 areas around the world. Jim has also served in staff ministry positions at the local church and denominational levels.

He and his wife, Harriett, will be moving from the Denver area to California this fall. They are the parents of two adult sons.
