Grace College’s women’s basketball team fell to Roosevelt 80-73 in overtime in the final contest of the Bennigan’s Terry Polston Hoops for Hope on Saturday.
The Lady Lancers (4-4) needed a colossal effort to send the overtime, but the Lakers (4-2) poured in 17 points in the extra session to secure the win.
Grace struggled immensely with its shooting touch in the first half, hitting just 27 percent from the floor. But despite the shooting woes, Grace only trailed 26-23 at the halftime break.
Midway into the third quarter, Grace pulled ahead 33-32 on a basket from Sarah Feasby. But Roosevelt ended the last five minutes of the quarter on a 17-5 run, opening up a 49-38 advantage heading into the final quarter.
