School program blends science and imagination using virtual aquarium

Imagine a fish in any colors you want. Now scan it into the computer and watch it swim onto the screen in front of you.

That’s what you’d get to do if you were in the school program at the Lilly Center for Lakes and Streams.

WSBT 22 introduces you to the facility in Kosciusko County, that’s the only one like it in the world.

Nate Bosch was on a family trip in New Mexico when his kids discovered a salt water virtual aquarium that captured their imagination. Bosch thought a fresh water version would be great for the Lilly Center and he got it approved.

Now the center uses an Education Program Specialist to blend science and imagination.

“Even at that kindergarten or first grade level, we want to leave them not only with that science, but with that sparking of curiosity that maybe they go home and tell their folks about,” said Sarah Baier, Lilly Center education program specialist.
