The Operation Barnabas teams are well into their tours. Here are portions of reports from over the weekend. Operation Barnabas is a ministry of CE National.
Team Atlantic – That’s Some Food Stuff – July 24
The phrase from which this day’s blog title comes from is the popular phrase, “That’s some good stuff.” It is a slight play on words, highlighting the fact that part of this day’s blog has to do with food. The phrase has been tossed around in various circles, most prominently made known during Operation Barnabas 2017 by an unnamed Team Atlantic blog writer. The following words are his recollection of July 24, 2017.
Today was full of good stuff. Our first and only full day at Woodville GBC was spent in the company of many people from various walks of life. Woodville GBC puts on a monthly food drive for qualifying individuals. Our team was able to serve alongside congregation members in the operation. Students also were able to engage in personal conversations with these individuals as they waited to get their food.
After putting on a very brief program in the morning for those waiting, Team Atlantic students were distributed to different jobs relating to the food drive. The remaining students sat with the crowd of people waiting for their turn. Students engaged well, explaining the gospel and offering to pray. By the end of the day, our students had compiled a list of over thirty names for prayer, and Corrie was able to lead an individual to the Lord. (Read the complete post.)
Team Hoosier Day 3: Taking the Field
Another day of exciting things for Team Hoosier! Today we partnered with Warsaw Community Grace Brethren Church for a community soccer tournament. Some of the students were able to play in the tournament, others helped the referees and EVERYONE mingled with families in-between games.
There were so many different types of students reaching the hearts of different kinds of kids in the community. One student that really stuck out today was Mackenzie Scott. Mackenzie used her athletic ability and soccer skills to play and strike up conversations with the local players from the neighborhood. It was very encouraging to see God use her gifts to reach people who are lost. Another student that stuck out was Andrew Carpenter. Before starting the tournament, a group of 6 guys needed an extra player on their team, and Andrew volunteered. What was encouraging about what Andrew did, was that he stood by each player on the team with a mindset of “these kids need Jesus”, and showed the love of Christ to each one of them. And, by the end of the day, Andrew was praying with all 6 students. (Read the complete post.)
