Students who are participating in Operation Barnabas, CE National’s summer short-term ministry and discipleship program, are in the midst of orientation this week.
Here’s a post from their blog detailing the events of Day 3. Click here for more images from the day.
Today was a crazy, fun filled day! Team Hoosier and Team Atlantic are both working very hard to get ready for their tours! Each student has so far worked on at leased 2 dances, 2 to 3 skits, 2 puppet songs, over 10 verses, object lessons, sermons, and social interaction with each other. They have come a long way for only 2 1/2 days and there is much more to come!
Right off the bat we jumped into our Discipleship Groups or “D-Groups” as some of you call it, and we talked about your student’s goals and spiritual journeys. Our goal is to train each student how to share their faith and get them back into the world with the mindset of “God is in control”. And I have to say, God is working in their hearts in big ways.
The students then headed to another Evangelism Track with Ed Lewis. They learned different kinds of steps of how to talk to different kind of people. They also learned how to use the “Cross Illustration” with young children to explain the gospel with a single tear of a piece of paper. Evangelism can be hard, but with the proper steps and tools anyone can do it, especially our students.
Grace College has been a HUGE blessing to Operation Barnabas. They provided lunch in their college cafeteria and a full Grace College tour of their campus. Grace College cares for the next generation of students and care about the hearts and lives of Operation Barnabas students so much that they are willing to take care of us this week, and we are very grateful.
The rest of our day was quite exciting. We had an amazing time learning about “how to overcome our fear” lead by TK and Sherilyn Rank. We had the students interact with people from to the community and they practiced the Evangelism steps given by Ed Lewis. They continued the rest of the night with some teaching time led by Ed, and he challenged each student to look at their own heart and give up things in their life. God is moving in big ways in the hearts of our students, and they are learning how to share their faith. We are so excited to start our tour this Thursday and see what God has in store for this summer. We will keep you posted!
