Operation Barnabas Teams Near End of Schedule

Jul 7, 2017

Operation Barnabas teams continue to minister in the East and the Midwest. Team Atlantic has been participating in Streetwise at Urban Hope in Philadelphia, Pa., while presenting programs in parks and helping in other ways. They finish this weekend at the Grace Brethren Church, Palmyra, Pa. (Paul Mutchler, interim pastor). Team Hoosier has been in Central Ohio and is on its way to Legacy Church in Kendallville, Ind. (Dan Cosentino, pastor), where they conclude their tour. Below are portions of their most recent blog posts. Click here to learn more about this year’s schedule. Operation Barnabas is a ministry of CE National.

Team Atlantic – The Only Potential Funny Titles for This Blog Were Mildly Insensitive

Sharing the gospel with boys on the basketball court.

Surrounded by Team Atlantic boys who were zonked out, the unnamed Team Atlantic blog writer rolled over several times. “The blog awaits,” he pondered. After begrudgingly getting up, he wrote this blog.

Today held great experiences for Team Atlantic. After a great breakfast of Toasted Oats [Disclaimer: this was my personal breakfast. Other options included Fruit Rings and Frosted Corn Flakes], students sat in for a session led by the one and only Sean McDowell. Sean spoke for an hour on Islam. After giving a run down of the basic beliefs and foundations of the religion, Sean continued to speak on the validity and reliability of Scripture.

After lunch, Streetwise had an OB park program schedule for 3 PM. However, as the afternoon commenced, rain poured with little indication of slowing. Team Atlantic proceeded as if the program were to happen, though. Students spent the entire bus ride to the park praying for the rain to stop. Around 2:30, as students set up our puppet stage, the rain stopped until directly after our program ended. Students were in awe of God’s power to intercede and answer prayer.

Team Hoosier Day 15: Happy Hearts Camp

Interacting with campers at Happy Hearts Camp.

Today was a great day for Team Hoosier. Right off the bat, we got up and had a little time with God, but we had to move quick to our first location of the day. Our first location of the day was a Happy Hearts Camp in Delaware OH. Happy Hearts is a horse back riding therapy program for disabled children in the local area. This great program allows disabled children to have a life that makes their hearts a little happier.

Our students split up into 3 groups with 3 different children and parents. Although it was a challenge, the students encouraged and stayed by each child. After all the horses were tired and ready to be done, we enjoyed a fantastic meal with the kids provided by the Happy Hearts Camp Staff. Following after lunch was our OB program, which was a blast because the kids interacted and dance with our OB students while having the time of their lives. We then said our goodbyes, and headed back to Grace Polaris to change.
