Palau Addresses EPA Opening Session

May 8, 2008

Argentine-born international evangelist Luis Palau (pictured) was the keynote speaker at the Wednesday evening opening session of the Evangelical Press Association, meeting this week in Portland, Oregon. The 73-year-old Palau was introduced by the mayor of Portland, who praised Palau for his efforts to mobilize more than 500 churches in the Portland area to do “servant evangelism” in serving the homeless and other civic issues.

Three Grace Brethren communicators–Terry White and Liz Cutler Gates from BMH and Viki Rife from Women of Grace USA–are among the 300+ editors, publishers, and communicators who are attending the convention.

Music for the evening session was provided by Keith and Kristyn Getty (“In Christ Alone”) and by songwriter Paul Baloche (“Open The Eyes of My Heart” and “Above All.”) Liz Cutler Gates moderated the late-night roundtable affinity group discussion of denominational editors attending the conference.

The conference concludes Friday evening. For more information, log onto www.epassoc.org.
