Pastoral Resident at Grace Community Church of Seal Beach (Seal Beach, Calif.)

Pastoral Residencies are more than an internship. This is for future pastors who have demonstrated meaningful ministry experience and are moving toward pastoral ministry, but need a bridge to get there.

Our ideal Pastoral Resident is someone who is looking forward to a local church pastoral vocation in the next couple of years. He might currently be a seminary student or looking to become a seminary student.

At Grace Seal Beach, we love raising up leaders to serve in Christ’s mission around the world. The Pastoral Residency is a 2-year, part-time program that prepares you to be on a pastoral team at the end of it.

This Residency is intended to be a gift to you and to the broader church. We want to help prepare you through intentional mentoring, meaningful feedback, and broad ministry exposure to have experiences as a Resident that make you unusually well-prepared for your first full-time pastoral role.

The main responsibility of the Pastoral Resident will be to lead the College Ministry (currently about 8 students). The reason we want you to focus on college ministry is because this age is a rich learning ground on questions of theology, ethics, and ministry practice. Plus, it is an age that many Residents are well-suited to lead and connect with.

Additionally, the Resident will participate in a wide variety of meetings (elder, staff, budget, etc) in order to prepare him for the pastoral vocation in the future. He will also be given opportunities to learn and grow in other pastoral skills, such as counseling, preaching, the sacraments, and leadership.

We are grateful for God’s call on your life and look forward to helping be the bridge to your pastoral future!
