Plans for Hurricane Relief Efforts Underway

Sep 4, 2019

Even as Hurricane Dorian works it’s way up the southeastern coast of the U.S., steps are being taken throughout the Charis Fellowship to provide aid in its aftermath.

Barb Wooler, director of crisis response for Encompass World Partners, is marshaling volunteers to help with cleanup and recovery efforts.

She is assessing needs in the Bahamas, where there are a number of Charis Alliance churches, and along the east coast of Florida, where there are several Charis Fellowship congregations. In addition, should the storm make landfall in the Carolinas or Georgia, she has already made contact with partners in previous efforts where assistance will be appreciated.

“Watch and pray for the Church and believers to rise up and serve in all these areas of impact,” she wrote to leaders in Charis Fellowship congregations who are poised to help. Already several congregations in the east and Midwest are making plans for teams to travel to devastated areas to provide aid.

She encourages those who are interested in helping to reach out to her directly at bwooler@encompassworld.org or phone or text at 574-453-6479.

Update from Barb as of late Wednesday morning (September 4):
I’ve heard from Chuck Davis twice and he has verified that our Charis Churches are fine – they are in a region that was not heavily impacted. So now we start working our other connections with Bahaman local churches and ministries with a heart to reach out and serve their communities in the impact zone.
