Prayer is requested for Evie Wike, the two-year-old daughter of Jeremy and Tonya Wike. (He is pastor of Community of Hope Grace Brethren Church in Columbia City, Ind.) Evie joined the family in May. Prior to Evie’s adoption in China, the Wikes knew that she would need surgery as soon as possible to correct several heart defects. Tonya blogs about their adoption experiences at whatitmeans2beheld.blogspot.com, where she’ll be making regular posts as Evie recovers.
Here’s an update this morning from Tonya:
Evie has Tetralogy of Fallot and a few other heart defects. She had her repair surgery yesterday. This is a surgery she should have had as an infant. Because of that, although the surgery went well, her little body is struggling to adjust to having a heart that works like it should. Her long-term prognosis is good, but she faces a rough road over the next few days and weeks as she recovers. She is currently sedated and on a ventilator.
