Registration for Workshops, Riskursians at Flinch Conference Now Available

Jun 4, 2015

Registration for workshops and Riskursians at Flinch Conference, the national conference of the Fellowship of Grace Brethren Churches, are now available. (The conference will be held Thursday, July 23- Sunday, July 26 at the Newark International Airport Marriott adjacent to New York City.)

Workshops are offered Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11:15 – 12:15. Workshop topics range from church planting, leadership development, using social media, and other relevant topics. Click here to view the complete list and to sign-up to participate in the workshops of your choice.

Riskursions are offered Saturday afternoon. These provide the opportunity for conference participants to step outside their own comfort zone and experience a ministry that might be considered risky. Among the Riskursions are trips to visit the Bowery Mission, one of the oldest rescue missions in the country; Ground Zero, where participants will have the opportunity to hear first hand testimony from someone who was there as God used them to take a risk to step in and help; Albanian Immersion, where guests will enter the world of recent Albanian immigrants and initial church planting efforts among them; Flinch Food Adventure, with a visit to the diverse ethnic neighborhoods and food markets of Manhattan; Melodies from Harlem, an opportunity to experience spiritual melodies that raise worship to the Almighty God; Moving Towards Muslims, includes a visit to a mosque;  the “International Express,” travel the Number 7 subway line which has been a vital connection for new immigrants to work in the center city; and Times Square Church, a ministry to the homeless.

Flinch Conference staff has arranged for a bus to leave from the hotel on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. to the Staten Island ferry for $20 per person (includes a box lunch and a meal ticket is required). The Staten Island Ferry (free!) travels past the Statue of Liberty to lower Manhattan. A guide, gathering location, and an instruction page will be provided for each Riskursion. At 8 o’clock in the evening, participants will gather at a common location in New York City. Space is limited so sign up is required.
