Services for Larry Orme Announced

Apr 24, 2017

Larry S. Orme, 1961-2017

A memorial service to honor the life of Larry Orme, executive pastor at Penn Valley Church, a Grace Brethren church in Telford, Pa., will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the church, which is located at 320 N. Third Street.

The memorial service will be live streamed from at pennvalleychurch.org.

In addition to serving on the staff of Penn Valley Church for many years, Larry was a current member of the Fellowship Council, helping to oversee the activities of the Fellowship of Grace Brethren Churches.

Larry’s obituary appears below.

Lawrence S. “Larry” Orme, age 55, of Telford, Pa., went to be with his Savior at his home on Friday, April 21, with his wife and children by his side. He was the loving husband of Judi (Savasta) Orme. They were high school sweethearts since age 15 in Hauppauge, N.Y., and were married 35 years.

Born in Freeport, N.Y., he was the son of Stanley Orme and Priscilla (Vogeney) Nyilas. Larry graduated from Moody Bible Institute in 1991 with a B.A. in Bible Theology and obtained a diploma in 1985 for Pastoral Training. He later earned an M.A. in Biblical Counseling in 2001 and a Master of Divinity, both from Hatfield Biblical Seminary.  He was pastor at Kildare Baptist Church, in Chicago, Ill., for eight years and, since 1995, was executive pastor of Penn Valley Church multi-site network and campus pastor of the Telford Campus.

Larry was beloved by many as their pastor, shepherd, mentor, spiritual father, brother, and friend. He lived his life fully as a devout follower of God, leading and guiding others to this same calling. His passion was to develop and coach young men to be authentic Godly leaders in ministry. He taught and coached pastors and missionaries locally, across the country and in Europe and Nigeria. He was a gifted counselor, believing and committed to a Gospel-centered Biblical counseling method. Many lives were touched, changed and enriched by the hours he selflessly poured into their lives.

Larry was known to work tirelessly, generously and selflessly. He was affectionately known to do the work of two men. His hobbies included carpentry, making many furniture gifts for his children, hiking, motorcycling, restoring a 1966 Mustang, and building a house with and for his eldest son, Brian. He and Judi loved travel, nature, good restaurants, and live music. He was famously known to lavish extravagant love on his children, extending that love to others he welcomed into his “fold.” He was a beloved Papa to his grandchildren. He was the centerpiece to his extended family. He will be profoundly missed by all.

In addition to his parents and wife, Judi, he is survived by four children: Christa (Orme) Larew and husband Adam, Brian Orme and wife Melissa, Charis (Orme) Miani and husband Brian, and Jonathan Orme; 11 grandchildren; a brother, Jeffrey Orme and wife Grace; and a sister, Alison Orme.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service Saturday, April 29, 2:00 p.m. at Penn Valley Church, 320 N. Third St., Telford 18969. The family will greet friends following the service in the church’s Family Life Center.
