Encompass World Partners is currently seeking a couple (or two individuals) to fill a ministry support role at the Château de St. Albain. Workers are needed for 1-2 years beginning January 2015. A previous Château SOWer (Serving Overseas Worker) describes the importance of the ministry as well as joys it brought him:
“I enjoyed the chance to live and breathe another culture, to meet fellow Christians in France, and learn just a little bit of what it was like to see the world from their perspective,” says Jay Hocking, who served at the Château with his wife, Debbie. “Although there are many aspects to the Château’s ministry, the impact it has on youth really got my attention. This is a country with a percentage of Christians 30x lower than the USA – that means that youth who accept Christ are often the only Christian in their school… meaning they are committing to a life of being ‘the different one.’ Finding Christian friends (or a Christian spouse) is extremely difficult. The Château provides a place for youth to meet other Christians, grow in their faith, invite their non-Christian friends to a non-threatening environment… this value of this cannot be overstated. I enjoyed the opportunity to serve God with the gifts that I have… and to play a support role to the church planters and missionaries in France. Being able to wash dishes, cook meals, clean bathrooms, mow the lawn, and know that my efforts were directly supporting the ministry of the Château was very fulfilling.”
