Grace Brethren girls soccer reaches third consecutive Regional final

THOUSAND OAKS >> The Grace Brethren High School girls soccer team is back in familiar territory and the third time could be the charm for the Lancers.

Sammi Fisher continued her torrid scoring pace to help lead Grace Brethren to a 4-0 victory against Fowler Thursday in a CIF State Division V Southern California Regional semifinal at Cal Lutheran.

Not only did Grace Brethren shut out its second consecutive opponent in the regionals and pin the first loss of the year on the Redcats, the Lancers will be making their third consecutive trip to the regional finals after losing to Grand Terrace in 2015 and Sierra Canyon in 2016. They will play at Valley Christian of Cerritos on Saturday, a team Grace Brethren lost to in the CIF Southern Section Division 6 final last Saturday.

The Notre Dame-bound Fisher scored three goals, including two early in the second half to give Grace Brethren some breathing room. Fisher scored on a breakaway and converted on a corner kick.

“I like scoring,” Fisher said. “These are my last high school games and I want to go out with some big goals. My teammates get me the ball in great spots. I couldn’t do it without them.”
