County’s linemen put their strength to the test at annual Hogs Tournament

If you blinked, you missed it. That’s how dominant Grace Brethren High’s linemen contingent performed in what usually is a grueling tug-of-war finale.

Matched up against rivals from Royal High, the Lancers’ five-man unit needed just a few seconds to yank the Highlanders across the victory line.

“We’ve worked awfully hard for a long time to get ready for this,” said Grace Brethren senior Izzy Uila. “We take a lot of pride in showing what we can do together. It’s a lot of fun to compete like this.”

It’s not football, but the core values that win football games were on display at the annual Ventura County Football Coaches Hogs Tournament on Saturday at Simi Valley High. The competition, which included 7-on-7 passing competition, pits many of the county’s top linemen in a hogs-styled team decathlon that features eight events.
