GRACE BRETHREN: Class of 2018 set for a promising future

It was another one for the books as Grace Brethren High School’s Class of 2018 filed down the aisle May 25 to the tune of “Pomp and Circumstance.”
The ceremony at Grace Brethren Church was an exciting celebration for the 68 graduates and their families, marked by a brief word of advice from John Hynes, principal of the Simi Valley private school.
“Always remember that the person you are with most of your life is yourself, and if you don’t like yourself, you’re always going to be with somebody you don’t like,” Hynes told the graduates. “Instead, remember . . . that you are fearfully and wonderfully made (in God’s image) as you move though these next stages of life.”
Joshua Austria, class valedictorian, further reflected on the idea of image.
“A wise woman once told me kids are often a reflection of their parents, and if that’s true, this class was blessed with some amazing parents,” Joshua said.
Respect, commitment and the endless encouragement of each other is why this class has succeeded and will undoubtedly continue to achieve great things, he said.
