Volunteers prep for Summer Jubilee

Organizers are well into the planning stages for Summer Jubilee, Waynesboro’s annual Independence Day party.

The July 4 celebration requires upwards of 50 volunteers and more people are always needed to set up, help during the festivities and clean up afterwards.

For many, including local cheerleaders, football players and some families, lending a hand at the Jubilee is an annual tradition, according to Natasha Koons, the Summer Jubilee board member in charge of volunteers.

This year, volunteers from Grace Brethren Church will be joined by participants in Operation Barnabas, the denomination’s traveling ministry-training experience for high school students, who will help with children’s activities and perform a skit. Operation Barnabas is part of Summer Jubilee every couple of years.
