Eileen Baum died July 3, 2008. She was 85 years old. Her late husband, Archer Baum, was pastor of the Grace Brethren Church of San Diego, Calif.
E. Lee Custer, 92, father of longtime Grace Brethren Pastor Jim Custer, died on July 19, 2008 in Worthington, Ohio. He was born in Martinsburg, W. Va., and worked at Standard Limestone/Martin Marietta Company for 40 years before retiring. He was a founding member of the Rosemont Grace Brethren Church in Martinsburg, W. Va.
Longtime Grace Brethren pastor, Shimer E. Darr, died Monday, July 14 at the age of 89. He pastored the Grace Brethren Church in Washington, Pa., for more than 24 years and Center Independent Church, Garrett, Pa., for nine years. Later he served 11 years as Camp Albryoca caretaker and continued to supply pulpits until his death.
Georgia Eikenberry, 89, who served for many years on the staff of Grace Brethren Foreign Missions (now Grace Brethren International Missions), died July 17, 2008, in Fort Wayne, Ind. She was a member of Community Grace Brethren Church in Warsaw, Ind. where she served in various ministries.
Isobel Fraser, 87, died Sunday, July 27, 2008, at Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, Ind. She will be remembered for her work with Grace Brethren Home Missions in Jewish evangelism, where she spent most of her career in Los Angles, Calif. working with the blind and disabled elderly.
Frank J. Poland, 96, a longtime resident of Winona Lake, Ind., and former employee of the Grace Brethren Home Missions Council, died July 16, 2008. He moved to Winona Lake in 1949 to serve as business manager for the Grace Brethren Home Missions Council. He held this position for 31 years before retiring on January 1, 1981.
